13th International Architecture Exhibition la Biennale di Venezia

We were in Venice for the opening of the US pavilion as a part of the 13th International Architecture Exhibition. The pavilion won a special mention at the biennale. It was designed by a Brooklyn design studio called Freecell. They created a system with pulleys, counter-weights and banners. Each counter-weight symbolized an urban problem and tugging on it pulled on the corresponding urban solution banner. The ARTfarm banner was a response to ‘Unsightly Streets’ using ‘Flower Boxes’. More on ARTfarm on the spontaneous intervention website.
